I know I’m late to the liquid lipstick party, but truth be told, there haven’t been many that have truly knocked me out. A few weeks ago though, I was introduced to Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips, and all of that changed. I finally found a long-wearing liquid lipstick that really lasts on my lips — sometimes even up to 10 hours.
Lip Whip boasts a unique formula that I’ve found to be truly smudge proof — a true testament to their tagline — “What smudge?” Simply put, I’m a believer.
The formula glides on easily, doesn’t feel thick or gloppy, and takes a few seconds to dry before really “locking” onto your lips. I don’t know exactly what sorcery is behind this formula — but it’s really neat. It applies a flexible film of matte opaque color on my lips that almost becomes like a second skin. The color moves with my lips, so it’s less likely to crack or flake. And it’s just one step! No toppers, no additional product to seal it in — just apply and let it dry.
And the lasting power? WOAH. The first time I tried it was a simple test run. I put it on at about 6 pm one night, had a few snacks and beverages, and by bedtime — my shade, “Syruptitious” was still going strong! For the sake of testing and I wanted to see how my lips would feel with leaving it on so long, so I slept in it that night. The next morning, my husband looked at me laughing because it hadn’t budged. It looked just like how it looked the night before. Now, if that’s not telling…
A few mattes — Salted Caramel Mocha, Syruptitious, Cranberry Stiletto, Just Jelly
A few metallics — Rose Pose, Apple Crisp, The Grape Life, Space Cake
Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips are cruelty-free, and I don’t detect any fragrance or flavor. I know some of you are looking out for those things, so no worries here.
But — are they drying?
Honestly, I’ve worn matte lipsticks that were FAR more drying to my lips that didn’t last anywhere near as long as Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips have. I can get up to 10 hours of wear, as long as I don’t eat anything with oil in it while it’s on. Once it’s dry, it does not transfer to cups or glasses, and I can even kiss my husband on the cheek when I’m wearing these without him pulling away for fear of lipstick on his face. Even HE knows the difference between the Lip Whips and my other lip colors!
If you’re concerned about dryness, I encourage you to amp up your lip balm when not wearing Lip Whip, and incorporate the use of a lip scrub product to help exfoliate any dry skin that may contribute to additional flakiness. Beauty Bakerie also makes a DELICIOUS Sugar Lip Scrub that I highly recommend. It tastes like buttercream frosting (YUM!), sloughs off the rough stuff, and hydrates my lips nicely.
When it comes to removal, you’ll either need to use their Lip Whip Removal Wipes (highly recommend!), or a good cleansing oil, because these babies hang on for dear life and I love it.
Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips are available in over 30 shades, in both matte, and metallic finishes. I encourage you to check them out! Sign up for their newsletter, and they’ll email you a code for 10% off your order.
